Who We Are
The Last Bookshop is a specialist Marvel Comics retailer in Singapore. We stock back issues, new weekly releases, variant covers, ratio variants, and CGC-graded slabs, all priced in SGD, carefully graded, and securely packaged for collectors.
By focusing on Marvel, our buying choices, stock depth, and team knowledge are all directed toward giving collectors access to the issues they want, at prices that reflect real market value rather than short-term speculation.
The Buying Process
Whether you are ordering a single new release or sourcing a key issue you have been hunting for years, the process is the same from our end: clear, low-friction, and built around getting you the right comic in the right condition without surprises.
Step 1: Browse or Tell Us What You Need
Search our catalogue online or visit us in-store. If a specific issue is not currently listed, submit a want list request through the contact form or by WhatsApp. Even a character name and a rough era are enough for us to start.
Step 2: We Confirm Stock, Condition, and Price
For in-stock items, the listing includes a full condition description and price in SGD. For sourced items, we confirm availability and provide a firm quote before you commit. We do not charge for want list sourcing and there is no obligation until you confirm the order.
Step 3: Secure Your Copy
Place your order online or confirm with us by WhatsApp or email. For pre-orders and high-demand ratio variants, a small deposit may be required to hold your copy. We confirm every order individually and contact you if anything changes before dispatch.
Step 4: Dispatched With Care or Ready for Collection
Every order is packed with a backing board and bag inside a rigid mailer. Standard island-wide delivery takes 2 to 3 business days, and same-day delivery is available for orders confirmed before noon. Self-collection is welcome during opening hours.
Step 5: Receive and Enjoy
Your comic will arrive in the condition described. If there is any issue, such as transit damage, condition mismatch, or the wrong variant, contact us within 14 days, and we will resolve it with a refund or replacement.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is a Marvel Comics specialist shop, and how is it different from a general comics retailer?
A general comics retailer carries a wide mix of publishers such as Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, and independents, usually with limited depth across each. A specialist shop focuses on one area in depth, offering a stronger back-issue selection, more deliberate buying choices, and staff knowledge that goes beyond the latest releases.
2. I am completely new to Marvel Comics. Where should I start?
It depends on which characters or stories you already enjoy.
A good approach is to begin with titles linked to MCU characters you know. For example, if you liked the Spider-Man films, Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer is a solid modern entry point. If you are drawn to the X-Men, Jonathan Hickman’s House of X and Powers of X are the definitive modern starting place.
We are happy to give personalised recommendations based on what you have enjoyed.
3. Do you only sell physical comics, or do you also offer digital versions?
We specialise in physical Marvel Comics, including single issues, trade paperbacks, and CGC-graded slabs. We don’t sell digital codes or subscriptions. Our focus on physical books is reflected in the depth of our back issue inventory, the care we put into grading and packaging, and the services we offer for trade-ins, want lists, and variant sourcing.
For digital reading, Marvel Unlimited is the most comprehensive subscription service and is available directly from Marvel. If digital suits your habits, we recommend starting there, and we’ll be here to help when you’re ready to build a physical collection.
4. How do I know if a comic is a good investment?
Most comics are not investments in a financial sense. The majority of issues published each year will be worth about their cover price or less in five years, even if they see a short-term spike after release.
Comics that hold or grow in value usually share certain traits: they feature a major first appearance, were printed in limited numbers, are in high grade and certified by a service like CGC, and are genuinely significant in Marvel’s publishing history. Silver and Bronze Age key issues often meet these criteria. Modern keys can be worth collecting, but speculation tied to the MCU is volatile and many books that rise quickly also drop just as fast.
Our advice is simple: collect what you love, learn the market before spending heavily on key issues, and treat any financial upside as a bonus rather than the main reason to collect.
5. What is the difference between a key issue and a regular issue?
A key issue has particular significance in Marvel’s publishing history. It often features a first appearance, such as a new character, villain, supporting cast member, or alternate identity, or it marks a major plot event that changed the direction of a title. First appearances of characters like Spider-Man, Wolverine, Venom, and Thanos are especially valued because collectors want the moment those characters entered the Marvel Universe.
A regular issue does not carry this level of importance. It may still be part of a strong story arc and worth reading, but it does not have the same collector’s premium. The distinction is not always clear, and debates often arise between a first cameo appearance and a first full appearance, which the market values differently. This is the kind of detail our team can help clarify before you decide on a purchase.
